Book of Ruth Concert & Toy Drive

A Celebration of Culture, Community & Connection

In celebration of Native American Heritage Month, join us for a special cultural and musical experience featuring The Book of Ruth, an ensemble whose music and message create a bridge across generations, cultures, and backgrounds.

This meaningful community event is designed to educate, inspire, and bring people together while honoring the Indigenous peoples who have lived upon, cared for, and maintained relationships with the lands we now live on and use every day. Through storytelling, poetry, dance, and music, attendees will have an opportunity to learn more about Native American history, culture, traditions, and contemporary experiences.

The program will feature Native American storytelling, poetry, and a traditional Blanket Dance, followed by a powerful concert performance by The Book of Ruth. Their music is empowering, motivational, and inspirational, offering messages of hope, resilience, self-worth, unity, and community that can resonate with people of all ages and backgrounds.

The event is intended to create a space where young and old can come together, discover shared experiences, celebrate cultural diversity, and recognize the common threads that connect us as human beings.

A Celebration with a Purpose

This event is also a Holiday Toy Drive, extending the spirit of giving beyond the concert. Guests are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to help bring joy to children who may spend the holiday season in the hospital.

Collected toys will be donated to the Pediatric Ward at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, New York, where children and their families may find themselves spending the holidays while receiving medical care. For these children, a simple gift can provide a moment of happiness, comfort, and hope during a difficult time.

Come celebrate. Come learn. Come listen. Come give.

Together, through culture, music, storytelling, and generosity, we can build greater understanding, honor the Indigenous peoples of these lands, connect generations, and make a difference in the lives of children and families in our community.

Bring your heart. Bring your stories. Bring a toy. And come experience the power of culture, music, and community

When asked to describe The Book of Ruth, founding member Sadanyah Flowing Water shared:

The founding members and artists who have performed with The Book of Ruth bring an extraordinary depth of professional experience to the ensemble. Collectively, members have participated in award-winning Broadway productions, national and international commercials, audiobook narration, television and film productions, international music tours, New York Fashion Week, publishing, and other professional artistic endeavors.

Because many Book of Ruth artists maintain active and diverse professional careers, members may have rotating schedules and, therefore, may not appear at every concert. This flexibility is an intentional part of the ensemble's culture and allows each artist to continue pursuing professional opportunities while remaining connected to The Book of Ruth.

There is a saying within the ensemble:

“Once a Book of Ruth member, always a Book of Ruth member.”

Membership in The Book of Ruth is more than a performance opportunity—it is a connection to a creative family. Our business culture provides artists with the flexibility to pursue and maximize their individual professional accomplishments without jeopardizing their place within the ensemble or their opportunity to share their gifts with Book of Ruth audiences.

We are a family. And no matter how far our members may travel, the stage may take them, or the paths their careers may lead them down, The Book of Ruth will always be home.
